We had a busy, wonderful Easter. We spent Saturday enjoying the sunshine at a neighborhood Easter egg hunt.
Love the matching cousin smirks. Must be something in the Wheatley DNA...
Chloe and I baked until we couldn't find our kitchen underneath all the flour, pink frosting, and cookie cutters.
We dyed Easter eggs and set a pretty table for the next morning...
We spoiled our kiddos a little bit...
and relished the joy on their faces...
We dressed up in our Easter finest, went to church with our family, and caught up with special friends over brunch...
Then it was back out of doors for another Easter egg hunt!
It was a fair amount of work for the grown-ups to pull everything together, but we were rewarded with lots of special memories. There is something so incomparably sweet about little girls in gingham dresses and little boys in ties and untucked shirts, flying around the yard with baskets, rejoicing over jelly beans.
We only have a few more years, and the plastic eggs filled with treats will lose their appeal. This time with our little ones is fleeting...
...Just as, in reality, our minutes, hours, and days here are fleeting. Yesterday, I was reminded that Jesus died and rose from the dead so that we all might accept Him, come to know Him, and spend eternity with Him in heaven. Every one of us has this choice to make. He died for us! As an old pastor of mine used to say, time is short and the stakes are high. He is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).
